She’s such a babe
Late Night Thoughts vol 1.
The above trailer is of a movie called Blue Valentine. I’m sure most of you, the members of tumblr, have seen this movie, because well…Ryan Gosling. This is one of my favorite movies, and a lot of people think that that’s weird. It is NOT a happy movie, and that’s what I liked about it. A lot of you young people out there have an idea of love, most of which is supplied to you by shitty hollywood romantic comedies and teen mom. This movie is different in that it shows that couples fall madly in love with other very quick, have an amazing time, sometimes fight, sometimes grow apart, and then sometimes fall out of love. I watched this movie, for maybe the 6th time tonight and I kept seeing me in Ryan Gosling (shut up). This movie may have been my life so far.
But this is life. And here’s a message for all you creatives, including myself that I gathered from the making of Blue Valentine—Derek Cianfrance, the director spent 12 years trying to get this movie made. 12 YEARS. He had 35 drafts of the screenplay by the time it got financed and until that time he collected unemployment checks, and worked small jobs on film sets. I get pissed at myself for my project getting denied for 3 years and when I heard this I sat up straight and gained a little bit of confidence back and told myself that it might be ok after all, and that there are slumps, and breaks and frustration.
Blue Valentine has just shown me a life lesson I won’t soon be forgetting.

I didn’t go to an “art college.” I studied and graduated with a degree in History with a focus on WWII. I wrote my senior paper about the relationship between Stalin and Hitler pre invasion of Poland.
I graduated in 2006, at time where youtube was only about 6 months old, flickr just started, and tumblr didn’t exist. I studied the old fashioned way by going to the library and SOMETIMES using wikipedia. For any person to go to college today, and spend thousands of dollars on a photography degree when he/she has the world available to them, but would rather spend his/her time being judged by hack professors, in government indoctrination centers, is a fool, and confuses me.
It rained almost all day yesterday, but Toni and Dan have an Airstream.

Here are some words I wrote about a person a while ago.
