All too common in movies and in television is it ok for kids to treat their parents like shit. It’s the “cool” thing to ignore them, and to be embarrassed by a mom who drops her son off at school and to be laughed at by other kids. I don’t understand this and never will. I understand that families aren’t perfect. Of course I’m not talking about the father who rapes his daughter, or the drug addicted mother who would rather get high than buy her son a birthday present. I’m talking about the parents that give a shit, the parents that sweat blood to give their kids everything, and to get back nothing, not an “I love you” because it’s “not cool” is fucking sickening. The day I don’t have my parents is the day I slowly start to die. And I don’t want to sound dramatic or morbid, only that when they’re gone, I’ll slowly start to lose who I am.
So here’s the point kids. You’re parents try, they do. Sometimes it may not look like they do, and sometimes they might lose over react to the smalles thing, but it’s not the end of the world. Be fucking GREATFUL that you have them. I have friends that lost their parents when they were young, and it pains me to see them on certain days. I guess all I’m saying is that no one is perfect, NO ONE. We all have our faults, but cut them a little bit of slack.
